ELEXON is vital to the smooth operation of the wholesale electricity market, balancing and settling the transactions between all the electricity companies buying and selling electricity.
They compare how much electricity generators and suppliers said they would produce or consume with actual volumes. They work out a price for the difference and transfer funds accordingly. This involves taking 1.25 million meter readings every day and handling £1.5 billion of customers’ funds each year.
They engaged me in 2009 & 2010 to develop a new business strategy for the organisation.
Working with internal expertise and external organisations, we challenged established preconceptions in order to identify new opportunities to exploit existing skills and assets in new directions.
We then took these ideas through a rigorous strategic development process resulting in a clear plan for future expansion.
